On 19 July 2016, the CCF announced Nacap Australia Pty Ltd had progressed as finalists with client APA in the 2016 CCF Earth Awards for the Victorian Northern Interconnect Expansion Stage 2 (Loops 2-5) project.
As some history to this milestone announcement, in order to meet the growing demand for natural gas by consumers within Northern Victoria and New South Wales, APA GasNet Australia (Operations) Pty. Ltd. needed to expand its capacity by looping the existing 300mm (12 inch) Wollert to Wodonga Pipeline (PL 101) with a new 400 mm transmission pipeline in APA’s existing 35 metre wide gas pipeline easement.
APA engaged Nacap Australia Pty. Ltd. to deliver Stage 2 of this critical project (Sep 2014-May 2015). Nacap’s role was to provide pipeline construction services to the Victorian Northern Interconnect Expansion Project (VNIE) – Wandong to Broadford and Mangalore to Glenrowan Pipeline Looping. Construction involved a mix of traditional cross country pipelining, special sections, crossings and trenchless construction methods.
Today the VNIE project is seen as one of Nacap’s proudest achievements due to the short start up window, non traditional pipeline construction requirement, complex logistical management, record breaking pace of constructing an average of 2.4km pipeline per day and introduction of our award winning online safety portal.
Nacap is one of four finalists with winners soon to be announced at the CCF Earth Awards Dinner on 20 August.
